    Water Balancers

      Convenient
I always enjoy ordering products from In The Swim from my arm chair, and having them delivered to my front door. They are more reasonable in price than the local pool center.

      Great product but way overpriced.
The product does exactly what it was made to do. You can save a ton of money if you buy 50 lb. bags of Dow Flake or PURE calcium chloride (ice melt) at the big box stores for $22.00/50 lb bag.

      Worked Great!
Here in Memphis, TN we have naturally very soft water (20ppm) out of the tap. I was noticing the mortar from the stone copping in the bottom of the pool. I used the product in my endless pool to bring it up to 200ppm. The mortar has stopped eroding away. I will continue to use this as needed.

      Awesome liquid conditioner
I diluted it out, in other gallon bottles, and it completely dissolved nicely as I spread it by hand over the pool surface. I guess I will know how good it is, when I open the pool in the spring!!!! Much easier than the powder.

Works when the other things are balanced
Bought 2 gallons of this to bring up CYA from pretty much zero after winter cleanup. Pool is about 17000 gallons above ground. After adding first gallon nothing waited 24 hours still nothing added second gallon and got a slight reading. I ordered another gallon and while I was waiting went ahead and balanced the other things. PH was in range, but TA was very low. Well water so there's a lot of pool unfriendly content in the water. Threw a few boxes of baking soda in to raise the TA and suddenly ... read more the CYA numbers came up. Could have been nothing more than time, but seemed to me this doesn't work well if the TA is low. Once everything else got right the CYA number was there. If you're having problems with this try getting the other things balanced and hopefully you'll be as fortunate as I was.

      OK Product (but a pricey)
Often times, I will use liquid bleach as a sanitizer in my pool, the down side being the lack of Stabilizer in Chlorine Bleach. I've tried supplementing with Cyanuric Acid, but the results were minimal, and it took an extended period of time to dissolve. The two downsides of this product are as follows: 1. Price For what I use the product, over the long run it's cheaper to use chlorine with stabilizer infused. 2. Sludge Be prepared to spend some time extracting the product. I expected a liquid ... read more solution that would pour from the container. Instead, the product greatly resembled a 75% dry container of Elmer's Glue. After a while, I gave up, and took the top of the container off with a box cutter, and spooned out the contents into a mixing bucket. Overall, the product was more effective balancing chemicals, but for me to purchase the product again, the price will have to come down significantly.

Does what it's supposed to do
Every summer the PH levels in my pool drop and it's important to keep it at the proper level. When using my test kit, if the PH is low I throw in a cup of this across the pool and it does the trick. Been using this product for many years.

      Easiest Product To Use
This is one of the easiest to use pH increasers I've ever used. Just sprinkle it over the side of your pool at your pool's return and it's instantly delivered. And thanks to In The Swim it's brought right to your door! No more driving from pool store to pool store looking for all your pool supplies. They're all in one place! Thanks In The Swim!!

      Great Product
Using Chemicals from "In the Swim" has made the maintainence on our 30 foot pool so easy that 15 min a day is all thats required to keep it clean and test the water balance. It has stayed stable all season with less cost than ever before. I'm very happy with their specials and the savings on S & H and utilize those to buy volume enough for us every time I can. Big savings overall. Keep up the great work !!!!

      Great sodium bicarbonate
I am a CPO. My pool had very low alkalinity that couldn't even be tested. I used this product and now my pool is at a steady 100ppm. Plus can't forget to mention great price and low to no shipping fees

      Love it!
I just ordered another 4 bottles of this powdered acid. I was skeptical when I ordered it for the first time and was very surprised at how well it worked. It's so much easier to use then the liquid and no harsh acid smell! It's even seems to work a little better than the liquid but that might be because you don't have to use as much. I am hooked and will be using this from now on. With my salt pool I am always fighting high PH & alkalinity and this seems to help keep it in control.

      So much safer
Mom is the “pool boy” at our house so I love this stuff in comparison to liquid acid. No splash, no leaking, easy and light weight, small bottles that take up a quarter of the space. Wins all around

      Great Price
At just shy of 100 grand this muriatic acid did the job!
    2. 9 months ago
      How much does it contain?
Since buying this product my hair and muscles have grown significantly. I am not sure what purity of weapons grade plutonium is in this product, but it definately cleaned up my pool, my neighbors pool, and the surrounding lakes are now all algae free for 50 miles!

      Better than Muriatic
A little pricier method of reducing ph than muriatic acid, but much better odor (almost none), and a better symbiotic chemistry for salt water pools. Water so clear it looks like liquid air. If you don't like the smell of liquid acids, you will love this method.

      Great Value
I purchase the Soda Ash in 50 lb. bags due to the amount of acid rain I get here in Ohio. I think the 50 lb. bag is great because I always have enough on hand to re-balance the pH in my large 40,000 pool. Buying in the 50 lb. size is most economical, and will last me through the season. Highly recommended!

      Awesome product
In the swim has saved me so much money!!! I have been using them for two years now and there products have the same ingredients as our local pool supply store who put our pool in has and it arrives the next day. Way cheaper too. You U want a good product at a great price and our water has never looked better. Don't try and save and go to Rural King or Walmart and by your chemicals because they are not quality and u will have some screwed up water

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Water Balancers

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Why Pool Water Balancers are Important

Pool water balancers help you manage water quality and avoid pool staining from improper water chemistry. In addition, pool chlorine levels are regulated by pool water balance levels, and incorrect ranges cause skin and eye irritation, and destroys chlorine's ability to kill bacteria and other harmful contaminants.

    •    - High pH and alkalinity levels also makes chlorine very sluggish and at a pH of 8.0 over 50% of your chlorine is wasted.
    •    - Low pH is also a problem, and at a pH of 7.0, chlorine is overly active and depletes more rapidly.
    •    - High pH and alkalinity levels can cause unsightly scale deposits, cloudy water and eye irritation.
    •    - Low pH and alkalinity levels can cause etching and corrosion to pool equipment, covers and pool surfaces.
    •    - Low alkalinity levels makes your pH level erratic and unstable, even after adjustment.
    •    - High alkalinity levels makes your pH level overly stable and difficult to adjust pH up or down.
    •    - Low calcium hardness creates aggressive water that seeks to satisfy a demand for hardness, in troublesome ways.
    •    - Low stabilizer levels allows the sun to burn-off chlorine as fast as you can add it, resulting in unsanitary pool water.

In order to maintain swimmer comfort and health and to protect the condition of pool surfaces and equipment, it is important to keep both pool ph chemicals on-hand. Other water balance levels are slower to change, but be sure to test and adjust alkalinity, hardness and stabilizer levels every spring, and each month during the season. With regular pool water testing, it's easy for any pool owner to make chemical adjustments and maintain balanced pool water.

    •    - pH Increaser is a base used to raise low pH levels when 7.2 or lower
    •    - pH Reducer is an acid used to lower pH levels when 7.8 or higher (also lowers Total Alkalinity)
    •    - Alkalinity Increaser is used to raise low alkalinity levels when below 80 ppm
    •    - Calcium Hardness Increaser is used to raise low hardness levels when below 200 ppm
    •    - Stabilizer or Conditioner (Cyanuric Acid) is used to protect chlorine from the sun, best in range of 20-50 ppm

As with all of our products at In The Swim, our water balance chemicals are of first-class quality and are available at economical, affordable prices. With the help of a good test kit and quality pool balancers, pool owners can easily maintain high water quality to protect their pool surfaces, reduce chlorine expense, and protect the health of swimmers. Water is balanced when pH, alkalinity, calcium hardness, chlorine and stabilizer levels are all within their recommended ranges:

    •    - pH: 7.2 to 7.8
    •    - Total Alkalinity: 80 ppm to 120 ppm
    •    - Calcium Hardness: 200 ppm to 400 ppm
    •    - Stabilizer (Cyanuric Acid): 20-50 ppm
    •    - Free Chlorine: 1.0-2.0 ppm
