    Pool Shock

    1. 5 years ago
Don't need algaecide when I use super pool shock
I have been using super pool shock for years and I love it. It dissolves easily in water and keeps my water clean and clear. I don't have to use algaecide as long as I use the Super pool shock. Only cons is the fact that it does cloud the water for awhile.

      Cloudier than other brands
By chance I had a few bags of ITS Super Shock and a few bags of Ultra Shock made by N. Jones Company. I noticed when putting them in the pool the ITS shock made the pool cloudy and the other did not. I have no idea why, but I would prefer the other shock.

      Works Great
Great Pool Shock, 1st Time I've used this product and I will continue to use this great Pool Shock. Easy to mix and use as I dissolve it in a bucket prior to dispersing into my pool. Love this Shock.

Great value, even better when on sale!
I have a 60,000 gal in-ground in the middle of the woods in the northeast... constant debris, wildlife, etc. making its way into the pool on a daily basis makes keeping the chemistry balanced and inhibiting algae growth a constant struggle. Previously I was running to the local pool store and picking up liquid chlorine 15 gals at a shot to balance and shock the pool in conjunction with my In The Swim Tri-Chlor tablets in my 2 chlorinators. I decided to give the Calcium Hypochlorite ... read more Sanitizing Granules a shot when I saw the 50# container on a great sale price while reordering my Tri-Chlor tabs. My first shock treatment only took 6# of granules, where as I typically would need 10-15 gallons to reach the same effect. Cost to product ratio was far better with the Granules, plus I can store the 50# much safer in a smaller space than the equivalent in liquids with fewer trips. Not to mention I'm far less likely to get a chemical burn from splashback or accidental spillage with the granules. From my initial experience, I estimate that I will continue this method over liquid chlorine from now on.

      Keeps pool sparkling
The granulated shock is easy to use and dissolves quickly. We prefer this to the packaged shock. It works just as well and leaves less waste (plastic packaging). It's effective at keeping our pool water clear and sparkling. It looks so inviting!! We live out of the 1 day delivery zone, but we still received our order very quickly, which is important to me. I've ordered this product from In the Swim for several years now and have been very pleased, both with the product and the service.

      Liquid Chlorine No More
I have been using Liquid Chlorine from In The Swim for several years. The 5 gallon liquid chlorine started feeling heavier and heavier. This is a great (and lighter) replacement. Works just as well.

      Works well
Great purchase! I used it to shock the pool and the next day all the algae were gone

      I LOVE THIS LITTLE BOTTLE
AT FIRST I WAS SKEPTICAL ABOUT THIS POWDERED INSTANT LIQUID -- I NORMALLY BUY THE LIQUID CHLORINE TO ADD TO MY POOL, SO AT FIRST WHEN I OPEN THIS BOTTLE AND SAW IT WAS GRANULAR I THOUGHT WHY WOULD THEY CALL THIS "INSTANT LIQUID CHLORINE" BUT I HAD NO CHOICE AT THE MOMENT AND USED IT AFTER A LARGE POOL PARTY AND BOY WAS I PLEASANTLY SURPRISED...IT MADE MY POOL CRYSTAL CLEAR AND I'VE HAD TO USE SO LITTLE TO MAINTAIN ON A WEEKLY BASIS...SO I LOVE THAT I'M ACTUALLY SAVING MONEY. THANKS IN THE SWIM!

Great Shock for Price and Excellent Pool Water
Best Shock I've ever used in 25 years. Very efficient results with less use than in the past with lithium shock

CRYSTAL CLEAR SPARKLY pool, better than Calpo!
We switched from super-shock to Dichlor for our 18x33' above ground pool because our well water is extremely hard, and this brand of it is awesome! 99% sodium Dichlor clears our pool SO FAST! Calpo took WEEKS to clear a green pool. With di-zap, we have a crystal clear pool in ONE day. Beautiful, clear, SPARKLING. Amazing. Plus it helps keep our stabilizer levels up... another problem we were having. And it dissolves quickly & completely - no liner bleaching. Love di-zap from In The Swim!

      Eliminated My Yellow Algae
We have a 15,000 gallon 16 year old concrete pool that needs to be refinished because it has corroded over the years from chemical use which creates the perfect environment for algae growth. We had mustard algea pretty much everywhere with a concentration on the sides and steps. The Super Algeacide and Super Shock totally eliminated it! It took a lot of elbow grease (brushing and vacuuming), but after a couple days and almost the entire bottle of Super Algeacide over the course of thee days, it ... read more is gone and has remained gone! Last summer I spent much more $ at our local pool supply store buying products to eliminate the mustard algea. Great product and great price!

      No more rashes!
We have had our above ground pool in use for the past 11 years. We were always using cholorine granular on a daily basis. Last year my husband developed a skin rash every time he went in the pool so we had our water tested. Our Cyanunic Acid level was 268ppm. The norm is 30-80ppm. We were advised not to use our pool. When the level of cyanuric acid rises, the “killing power” of the free chlorine residual weakens. At above 50 ppm of cyanuric acid, the time it takes to kill bacteria in the water ... read more is much longer compared to swimming pool water without cyanuric acid. When the level of cyanuric acid builds up, the chlorine becomes increasingly less effective in keeping the water clean and problems such as high bacterial and algae growth can occur. We were advised to drain our pool and start over, which we did. We now only use the Chorine free shock daily and our levels are now in the normal range and our pool is clean. No more rashes! I would have never known that cyanunic acid would have built up in our pool so much over the years and cause bacteria. We definitely recommend using the chlorine free shock and will continue to do so.

      Great for smaller pools
I've been using this product for years in a vinyl lined 9,700 gal. pool. Regular chlorine shock runs the chlorine level up too high for swimming for over 24 hours, but with this product we can swim the next day. (I usually shock late in the evening.) Also, it doesn't bleach the liner. But if the pool gets infected with algae, you need chlorine shock.

      Best Non Chlorine Shock!
I have been using this shock since I got my AG pool for 3 years strong. I use the mineral or power ionization to keep my pool clean. It has never failed me! People remark how clean my pool is! In The Swim is FAB! Fast shipping! Their openining and closing kits are SUPERB too! My pool is crystal clear EVERY spring! I am in it within a week once it warms up with the solar cover I also got oh and the filter system too as the one failed from the pool company after the start of my second season! Pool shock
This pool shock worked okay I use it for opening my pool in spring for some reason that no one can tell me why it takes cases and cases of liquid shock to get the water to read any chorine on the test strip so this year I mixed the shock some liquid some granular it still took a whole lot of shock

Good standard strength pool shock, great price!
I have a 15,000 gallon pool so need to use 2 of these bags each time, but even at that the price was better than I could do locally and it saved me a trip to the pool store. There's not much more to say about a bag of chlorine shock - it is what it is advertised to be.

      excellent producer.
I have been using this pool shock for years and I find it very effective. No need for super shock in my 30,000 + gal pool

    Shock Treatments for Swimming Pools

Granular chlorine is a convenient way to sanitize and disinfect pool water. Used in small amounts, swimming pool shock can raise chlorine levels quickly for a pool found to be lacking. In larger amounts it will easily super-chlorinate or hyper-chlorinate pools for removal of cloudy water, chloramines, and disinfectant by-products. Most importantly, swimming pool shock quickly destroys pathogenic bacteria, viruses and microbes found in pool water.

The Many Types of Pool Oxidizers

    •  - Di-Zap Multi Shock is stabilized, and can be used daily in pools, spas and fountains without calcium build-up.
    •  - Pool Shock and Super Pool Shock from In The Swim is suitable for all purposes, sold in bags and buckets.
    •  - Non-Chlorine pool shock does everything that pool shock does, with exception to killing heavy algae blooms.

The Many Uses of Pool Oxidizers

    •  - Restores clarity to cloudy pool water
    •  - Kills pool algae strains of all types
    •  - Sanitizes to destory bacteria of all types
    •  - Removes chloramines and other chlorine byproducts
    •  - Breaks down organic and non-organic matter, and bather waste
    •  - Raises chlorine levels quickly when found to be near zero
    •  - Removes stains on plaster, pebble and fiberglass pools

    How To Shock a Pool

    •  1. Clean the pool of debris before shocking a pool
    •  2. Balance the water chemistry and adjust pH to 7.2-7.4
    •  3. Each pound of pool shock can deliver between 7-9 PPM, per 10,000 gallons of pool water
    •  4. Add enough to reach a target threshold of 10, 20 or 30 PPM, depending on water condition
    •  5. Brush the pool, and run pool filter for 6-8 hours following super-chlorination
    •  6. Keep solar covers safely stored off the pool until high chlorine level subsides
    •  7. Check chemistry levels within 24 hours and adjust as needed, if chlorine is found to be zero, repeat shock treatment

    Pool Shock Treatment Tips

    •  - Always add chlorine to water, Never add water to chlorine
    •  - Always use the entire bag, Never store half-used bags of shock
    •  - Distribute the chemical around the pool, Never pour into the skimmer
    •  - Always adjust pH level to the low side, 7.2-7.4, where chlorine is more potent
    •  - Brush the pool after shocking, with a stiff pool brush, or a stainless steel bristled algae brush
    •  - Vinyl pools should pre-dissolve pool shock. Pour into a bucket of clean water and stir until dissolved
    •  - Sweep up any spills immediately, and add directly to the pool.
    •  - Never mix chlorine granules with any other type of chemical, or anything except water.
