    Pool Algaecides

      Great product
As with any kind of algae you have to work at it! First I use pool shock which I pour liberally over the areas worst affected. 24 hrs later scrub. Then I use an entire bottle and retreat with half a bottle if necessary, the next day. This works. It was recommended by a pool guy who has been doing pools for over 35 years, not me! Just sayin!

      Black Algaecide
I’m going to give it a middle of the road ranking. I’m sure that the concept works good. I recently purchased this and put it in my gunite pool. But anyone that purchases this product needs to realize there is a lot of work to do when you have black algae. It requires a lot of scrubbing and time to get the pool clean because Black algae, unlike Green algae, will not simply disappear. However after I got the pool cleaned, most of it with a wire barbecue brush, I have not seen the algae ... read more reappear. I don’t know what to tell people with pool liners, as they cannot be scrubbed like this

      It really works!!
My Swimming Spa was 90% covered in black algae . It came overnight after a thunderstorm.I initially used 2x the recommend rate, nothing changed 3 days later I used 4x the recommended rate, nothing changed, 3 days later I used 6x the recommended rate, in 5 days my fiberglass swimming spa was totally clear. Unbelievable.!!!

      Finaly something that works
We (or a friend) brought mustard algae from the lake. I spent hundreds of dollars on other chemicals in the past 3 years to get reed of the algae but it kept coming back a couple times per year, especially when we forgot to run the Polaris for a week. I tried every algaecide I could find in the stores and pool supplies companies. That's when I sent an email to ask what product would work best for my well water, salt system inground vinyl pool. Yellow out is just fantastic, It killed mustard ... read more algae overnight like nothing I tried before, with less than 2 pounds of it! Hopefully it is gone for good! Untill somebody brings some from the lake again. Tip: Make sure you ask anybody ready to swim in your pool if they used their bathing suit in a pond, lake, river, sea etc... and if they washed their suit since. That's how we ended up with mustard algae in the first place. Great product, Thanks.

      BEST PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LAST WINTER I PUT A SOLAR COVER ON MY POOL, AS THE WINTER IS RELATIVELY MILD HERE. WHEN THAT COVER CAME OFF, MY POOL WAS SO GREEN IT LOOKED LIKE A LOUISIANA SWAMP! I WAS SOMEWHAT CONCERNED ON A CLEAN, CLEAR FUTURE FOR MY POOL. THE YELLOW OUT IS AN ALGAE PROBLEM SOLVER... AN UNDERSTATEMENT.. I USED IT WITH CHLORINE AND MY IN THE SWIM SHOCK. IT WAS INCREDIBLE JUST HOW GREAT THIS PRODUCT IS! FROM SWAMP TO CRYSTAL CLEAR! I'M SOLD. I WILL USE YELLOW OUT ALWAYS! IT WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN.

      Finally!!!
I used this in combination with the Algaecide 60 plus & had wonderful results! We have been combatting algae all summer & the pool stores were out of solutions! I put this & the Algaecide 60 in and within one day had a beautiful sparkly pool. It did cause a massive need for chlorine all of a sudden. We usually check our combined chlorine levels as well as free chlorine & our tests indicated that we needed chlorine levels of around 50 to burn everything out! After a ton of shock, we finally ... read more started seeing some free chlorine coming back! Also, our ph dropped at some point, so be prepared with some bicarb :-) However, all of our levels are back to normal & our pool is beautiful!

      Good shock, black discoloration
Good shock, but for the first time ever, I had black discoloration on my plastered surface where the undissolved granules hit the surface in a shallow end. Fortunately resolved after 12 hours of circulation.

      Worked like a charm
This spring the kids took the winter cover off without my help and got the filthy sludge from the cover in the pool, by the time I got it filled back up and everything back together a few days later we had a nice green mess in the pool, I knew it would take a fortune worth of chemicals to get it back, I even contemplated draining the whole pool and starting from scratch, but I saw this product and figured it was cheap enough to try. the next morning after putting it in the pool was cloudy and ... read more blue, a little claifier and a day or 2 later we were back in business. Worked great for me.

All the algae was dead...took a few more days to be crystal clear... but if I ever have any more issues w algae...this is what I will be using everytime !

      Finishing touch
I've been battling the cleanup of algae for a year. Our (fired) pool service did nothing for it except to add more and more liquid chlorine. We've used several products that have been working, but we just couldn't get rid of all of it. We decided to give this product a shot. I put it in last night, then the powder chlorine, 12 hours later, more powder chlorine. Tonight I only had 3 small spots of algae left. I have 1 more time with the powder chlorine and I think we'll have it licked. I wish I'd ... read more started with this product a year ago.

      It Really Works
I have had a real problem with Green Algae. My pool is exposed to direct sunlight all day. After several treatments of Shock and Algaecide. This product along with periodic shock treatment has kept it under control and looking great. All my pool chemicals and equipment are from In-The-Swim. They have the best prices and you can depend on fast delivery.

      8 years of perfect clarity
I started using No Mor Problems 8 years ago in our 10,000 gallon above-ground pool and it has performed perfectly. I use 2 1/2 ounces once a week and NEVER have algae problems. The only two times I have had an algae bloom was when I skipped the once-weekly application. Each time about a week after the missed dosing, the pool became a murky green, but cleared up in a few days after starting treatment again. If you are consistent, this product is very affordable. Small, regular doses keep algae in ... read more check and the water is really sparkling clear.

Saved Me Mega Money and Time
Two years ago....after being gone for three weeks (and having some attention by my house sitter) my pool got totally out of control. Mega algae bloom. After much effort.......I was told that by pool maintenance pros that I would have to replace the water and possibly the sand in the filter. Replacing the water did not solve the problem.....yellow algae started to return and I was facing about $1000 to change out the sand in my filter. Fortunately No Mor Problems was recommended. I have not had a ... read more problem since. Very good product....use it weekly......outstanding!!

      Works well
I've used it for several years now, and it seems to do a good job. Having a safety cover on the pool means that some silt, etc., is always going to get in, but the algae growth seems to be less with this.

      Best Algaecide on the market
We have used this product for at least 8 years straight now and no other product works as efficiently as this. It is costly but no other products are needed as others that need an additional product to eliminate the foam.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Pool Algaecides

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

    Why Use Pool Algaecides?

While lack of proper circulation and out-of-balance water chemistry can lead to the growth of algae in pools, even carefully maintained swimming pools can sometimes experience algae growth. It is important to use an effective treatment as soon as an algae bloom appears in your pool and it's also a good idea to take measures to prevent algae from growing in your pool in the first place.

For killing out of control algae blooms, look to Green to Clean and Yellow Out, natural and non-toxic chlorine enhancers that boost the killing power of chlorine pool shock. Small localized areas of algae can be eradicated with In The Swim Pool Algaecide, Algaecide 50 and Algaecide 60 Plus, and a stiff pool brush. For repeated algae blooms, step up protection with our Super Algaecide, No Mor Problems or Algae Clear for stubborn situations.

    Preventing Pool Algae

    •  1. Well balanced water, with proper pH, Alkalinity, Calcium Hardness and Stabilizer levels.
    •  2. Constant and consistent chlorine level of 1-3 ppm, along with regular superchlorination to 10+ ppm.
    •  3. An effective filter; run the pump each day for 12 hours daily, more or less, depending on effectiveness.
    •  4. A clean pool; brush, skim and vacuum to remove organic debris which contributes to algae problems.
    •  5. Monitor levels of phospates in the pool. Use a phosphate remover when levels exceed 300 ppb.

If you do all of that, and still have algae - begin an algaecide treatment with weekly doses of our Pool AlgaecideAlgaecide 50 or Algaecide 60 Plus, to assist your chlorine to combat pool algae. Algaecides accomplish this by eroding the outer protective layers of the organism, allowing chlorine to penetrate into the cells.

    Killing Pool Algae

    •  1. Clean pool of debris with skimming, vacuuming and brushing pool.
    •  2. Adjust Alkalinity to 80-120 ppm, Calcium Hardness to 180+ ppm, pH to 7.2-7.3, and stabilizer to 20-50 ppm.
    •  3. Add Pool Shock per label instructions.
      • - For light green algae with good visibility, add 1-2 lbs of shock per 10,000 gallons.
      • - For medium green pools with visible shallow end floor, add 2-3 lbs shock per 10,000 gallons.
      • - For dark green pools with very poor visibility, use Swamp Treat or Green to Clean with a triple-dose shock.
    •  4. Brush pool and run filter overnight (remove solar blanket covers while chlorine levels are high).
    •  5. In 12 hrs, check pH and chlorine levels. If chlorine has dropped to near zero, repeat treatment.
    •  6. Continue to run filter 24/7, cleaning filter only when filter pressure rises or flow rates decrease.
    •  7. Add a Clarifier after 2-3 days, to assist your filter in removing suspended particles.
    •  8. Add an Algaecide after 4-5 days, adding an initial dosage, followed by regular maintenance doses, per label.
    •  9. Add a Filter Cleaner after 5-7 days, to remove algae particles trapped inside of sand or cartridge pool filters

In The Swim's swimming pool algaecides are highly effective products which will help you keep your pool water crystal clear and algae-free. Our powerful pool algaecide will reduce the need for pool shock treatments and are safe for all pool surfaces.
