    Chlorine & Bromine

      Liquid Chlorine No More
I have been using Liquid Chlorine from In The Swim for several years. The 5 gallon liquid chlorine started feeling heavier and heavier. This is a great (and lighter) replacement. Works just as well.

      Cheaper then Liquid
My second year with this product. Works great, quick delivery.

      Disappointed
Was hopeful it would dissolve much better than it did. Having to brush the bottom of the pool with each application is not worth it. The chemical part was fine, just didn't enjoy the brushing. I will go back to liquid chlorine.

      Great Value
This is my second time purchasing the 50 lb bucket from IntheSwim. It is the best price per volume that I can find at this strength. As a note, I did read a review stating that the lid would not budge, and I had the same issue with this (my second) bucket. I used a hammer to hit the lid counter-clockwise, and it came right off. It seems that they've hired a new, beefed up employee on the assembly line!

      Great product
My CYA was getting high so I needed something to add chlorine/shock my pool that wouldn’t increase it. This is exactly what I needed! It works well and my pool is very clear.

      Bromine
the little plastic bags disintegrate in the bucket and the tiny pieces of plastic get in the brominator & clog the valves -- never used to come in the "convenient bags" was always just tabs in bucket. don't know what to do now. Maybe empty all bags on first arrival if they are intact then??

      Works great!
I have always used chlorine in my fiberglass pool and chlorine shock and it faded my blue pool to almost white. I had to repainted my pool this year because of the paint chipping up and didn't want to have the paint color fade again. I started using non chlorine shock and bromine tablets and it works great! No more chlorine smell, red eyes, and faded everything ( clothes, pool floats, pool paint). I am glad I switched!

      Super product!
I have used bromine for over twenty years because it is far superior to chlorine that has a strong odor, dull water and is prone to algae outbreaks. This bromine is pre measured in plastic bags that while they tend to be fragile, allows me to quickly and easily dispense a measured portion without lifting a fifty pound bucket or handling an exposed product. This product gives me sparkling crystal water. It is delivered to my door at a far more reasonable price than the local pool shop. It is ... read more gentle on the pool and equipment. The last paint lasted 14 years without blistering or peeling.

      WOW THIS REALLY WORKS
Was having trouble getting our PH regulated and constantly having to put in stabilizer, we also were constantly Having a black residue that would appear after adding acid, bleach , stabilizer, baking soda! We live in the Panhandle of Florida! I also have an Ionizer (from In The Swimm from day one of putting in pool in 2006, liner type). I purchased this Multi tab! And a float dispenser. ( Love the tip over when you need to add more tabs style!!). We put 3 tabs in the dispense ( 13,000 gal ... read more pool). Over night the PH, Stablizer and every thing Was starting to move in a positive level!! We checked our levels every late afternoon the first 3-4 days! WOW THESE TABS WORKED!! Pool is perfectly balanced in all test strips !!! Have not had to add any tabs to dispenser ( we even had to close the dispenser a little as to not release as much ). So there you save $$ also!! Purchase these Tabs!!! You will be amazed!! We also shut our Ionizer off for the first few days and just now turned on to the lowest of lowest setting !! $$$ saved there ( will not have to replace the chamber as often!! Fantastic product!! So worth the extra $$ !! Because we have not had to add any chemicals to our pool going on 3 weeks!!! We even went out of town for a week and the pool is still stable and Beutiful ! YES, yes 5 plus stars on these multi tabs!!! .

      Worth the money
First time ever owning a pool. A friend of mine referred me to in the swim. I chanced it by making the purchase but am so thankful. My water is crystal clear and this makes everything easy. These tabs make me thankful for owning the pool. I refer everyone to these tabs.

      Replenished our supply
In the Swim ships quick. Very competitive prices. This tablets work great at maintaining our chlorine level. We put a tablet in each of the skimmers and the water remains crystal clear. The tablets last about 3 to 4 days (less on real hot summer days). We repurchase these tablets at least every year.

My pool is too small to use the skimmer sticks
Last year I purchased skimmer sticks from my pool man and thought they were working wonderfully. This year pool man never returned my calls so I purchased from you. I found out that my stabilizer was off the charts due to the pool being too small for the skimmer sticks. I think they are great for a large pool. I have used products from In the Swim in the past when I had much larger pools. Too bad. Now I need to see if I can sell my 10 lb bucket minus 1 stick.....

      its ok
I bought the suppsedly slow dissolving chlorine sticks this spring but they really dont last much long then the 3 inch tabs for the difference in price I will go back to the tabs. In the Swim however as always quick service had product in a couple of days

Did what they said they will
I have not found a product that works as well for the same price. Each stick is individually wrapped so when you open up the bucket you are not COMPLETELY knocked over by the fumes. I also live in a moist climate so they do not deteriorate. I use the sticks in an in-line chlorinator and once you have your chlorine levels set, it's easy to keep the desired levels. In the Swim ships quickly and my order has always been correct. Their prices are much more competive than I can get from my local stores.

      Great Product
Good value, this quantity works perfect for me. We keep our pool up year round, so these tablets are the only brand we use. Shipping is so convenient, never have to run around looking for chlorine tablets.

      Purchase of chlorine tablets
I have bought your tablets bc are cheaper here than anywhere else. I like that they are individually wrapped. Will continue to by from you for my chlorine needs.

      Great Product
On the advice of a fellow pool owner I tried using liquid bleach from my local supermarket to chlorinate my pool. He assured me I would see a significant cost saving. I regret that he was talking rubbish! Mid swimming season I realised the sun burnt off the bleach at an alarming rate plus the ph was bouncing around requiring more chemical input to cure. So back I went to In The Swim Chlorine Tablets. My 35,000 gal pools uses 4 tablets a week, ph is stable and the water sparkles.

      Great Dissolving Qualities
In The Swim granular chlorine is the only one we will use in our pool. Coupled with occasional Super Pool Shock treatments throughout the season, the pool stays crystal clear. A great combination, and one that we have counted on for over ten years.

      Great Product
I love the fact that this product works so well with no fuss and muss, You dump the appropriate amount into the skimmer basket and let your filter do the rest. I have no problem maintaining the proper chlorine level and the filter does all the work. If you do run into any algae growth, a heavier dose of this product works well to kill it. No wasting money on costly algaecides. Reccomended doses for weekly shock are on the container too. I also love the safety lid. I have used many that are just ... read more so hard to open, this one just has you squeeze the tab and rotate. No more fighting the lid just to get to the chemical.

      A must have!
This is a must-have for our pool. I add only 2 (maybe 3) things to my pool. This granular chlorine and PhosFree. Occasionally, basking soda for the pH. But that is it. Iadd it right to the skimmer no mixing that the the filter's job and as long as the pH is in range the chlor is stable for days. Crystal clear for the season!!

Bought to help in the management of our salt system pool after having the same recommended by the pool supply where a water sample was taken which is about 29 miles one way.

      ALGAE GONE
I started to get Algae on the walls of my pool due to excessive heat and rain - after I used the Algecide - I put three of these Dizap packets in and shocked the sht out of my pool - its crystal clear now!

      Di Zap pool shock
I have my packages of shock delivered right to my door don't have to run to pool store. My pool stays crystal clear and I have recommended to all my friends never have cloudy water again.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Pool Chlorine & Bromine

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

    America's Most Popular Pool Chlorine!

According to the CDC, free chlorine kills most bacteria in less than a minute if concentrations and pH level are maintained properly. Swimming pool chlorine is the most widely accepted pool sanitizer available, and for over 75 years, pool chlorine has been the most popular method to disinfect and sanitize pool water. Pool bromine can be used as an alternative pool water treatment, yet chlorine tablets and granular chlorine remain America's first choice for maintaining clean and clear pool water.

    Pool Chlorine or Pool Bromine?

The general rule is that bromine is more often used in spas and hot tubs, and chlorine is more often used in pools. Although they are close cousins and adjacent to each other on the Periodic Table, bromine and chlorine have distinct differences, and unique benefits to offer pool owners.

    Chlorine and Bromine

    • - Bromine can be reactivated to reduce cost.
    • - Bromine is more stable in hot water, to provide longer lasting sanitation, even during full use.
    • - Bromine is more stable in a wider pH range, remains strong under rapid pH swings.
    • - Bromine has less odor in the water, and less irritation to skin and hair.

    • - Chlorine is the most economical way to sanitize a pool.
    • - Chlorine is sun-stabilized in our 1" or 3" slow dissolve Trichlor tablets and 8 oz. sticks.
    • - Chlorine tablets and sticks dissolve rapidly enough to treat larger pools effectively.
    • - Chlorine granules react instantly for rapid super-chlorination or shock treatments.

Swimming Pool Chlorine Types and Use

In The Swim pool chlorine dissolves fast and almost instantly begins to sanitize your pool water. In The Swim 3 Inch Chlorine Tablets are 8 oz. stabilized pool tablets, and are also available as a 0.5 oz. pellet, in our 1 Inch Chlorine Tablets, for very small or very large pools. In The Swim 8 oz. Slow Dissolving Chlorine Sticks work fast and last longer. Our 3-inch Super Multi-Tabs are unique chlorine tabs with stabilizer, algaecide and clarifier added. Sticks or tablets can be used in chlorine floaters, or place the pucks into an in-line or off-line chlorine feeder, to provide a daily sanitizer level that is consistent and constant.

In The Swim granular chlorine like the economical Cal-Hypo granular chlorine and stabilized Di-Chlor chlorine granules are both available loose in buckets and also sold in 1-pound bags, as Pool Shock, Super Shock and Di-Zap. Pre-dissolve chlorine granules into a large bucket of water for vinyl pools, or sprinkle the powder directly into concrete pools, spas and fountains to maintain sanitizer levels, to raise low levels rapidly, or to super-chlorinate the pool. Granular chlorine is used regularly to quickly kill algae and bacteria, and to oxidize microscopic particles and contaminants in the water.

    Pool Chlorine Chemistry

Chloramines form when a chlorine molecule has combined with ammonia or nitrogen to produce the familiar scent often associated with swimming pools - that’s not the smell of free chlorine, but of combined chlorine. As chloramines build up they reduce the effectiveness of your sanitizer. When the chloramine level (Total - Free Chlorine) is greater than 0.3 ppm, (TC-FC=CC), this is time to add pool shock to your pool to remove the chloramines.

UV rays from the sun breakdown chlorine which makes your sanitizer less effective. Although In The Swim pool chlorine tablets are stabilized, it takes some time for a residual to build up. Pool stabilizer (aka conditioner) contains cyanuric acid to reduce sunlight degradation. It’s like sunscreen for your chlorine, and will save you money in the long run.

The pH of your pool water has a large effect on the efficacy or potency of your chlorine. In addition to maintaining stabilizer levels in the 30-50 ppm range, keeping a close eye on pH will reduce your chlorine costs, and also help ensure clean and clear pool water. At a high-pH level of 8.2, over half (+50%) of your chlorine is wasted. Pool chlorine works best at low pH ranges of 7.2-7.4, and becomes less active in higher pH pool water.

    Bromine for Swimming Pools

In The Swim Bromine Tablets are slow-dissolving by nature, and can take longer to build up a residual, although bromides can be added to quickly boost levels. Bromine is also un-stabilized, so it does not stand up well to bright sunlight. However, bromine tablets are popular for indoor pools or heavily shaded outdoor pools. Bromine pools have a softer smell of pool bromine, and can re-activate bromides into bromine, simply by shocking the pool (with chlorine!).

To use bromine in a pool, you will need to have a bromide ion 'bank' built up, or a preexisting level of bromide ions (the reduced form of bromine). Many bromine users add Brom Booster to raise levels quickly when converting a pool to bromine. Then you simply use the bromine tabs in a brominator (bromine floaters are not as effective). In The Swim Bromine is a BDCMH formula that stands up to sun degradation better than other bromine tablets, and contain no cyanuric acid.
