    Above-Ground Steps & Ladders

      Good but....
While the ladder itself is of good quality, the actual assembly of it is time consuming and labor intensive. Do not rely on the directions to make sense as, well, they don't! It took two people more than two hours to put this together!! Again, if you have time, energy and determination, it is a great ladder. It is sturdy and secure, but oh my gosh, be prepared for a serious process to get it together.

      Labor intensive
How many people have a heating gun at home? That's what it takes to bend the parts for assembly. The opening for the sand/gravel is between the size of a dime to a nickel, very time consuming to fill. Make a deal with pool companies to pick up an assembled ladder from the store. Whenever I finish filling it, I know it will be a decent ladder.

      Sturdy Ladder
This ladder is wonderful once it is put together. It is very strong and mounts great to our deck to provide a stable entrance/exit from the pool. But beware... it is very very hard to put together. The rise and run on this ladder is one piece and must be folded to snap into the side supports. Since the plastic is so strong, it is VERY difficult to snap into place. Make sure you have another person to help... took me 3 hours alone and I have assembled everything from kitchen cabinets to outdoor ... read more playsets and houses. If you can get it together it is an excellent ladder.

      Love our ladder!
I was surprised about all the negative reviews. I bought ours 6 or 7 years ago and my husband had no problems putting it together. It has been outside, summers and winters for the whole time (we don't take the pool down) and have never had a problem with it! We love it!

      Great Steps
I am a 68 year old man and somewhat overweight. I was having trouble getting in and out of my pool because the steps I had were so narrow. I saw these steps and thought I would give them a try. They were a bit hard to get together at first but once I got the hang of it, it went very quickly. Made a funnel out of a paper plate and the sand went in easily. Once you get them into the water they are very sturdy. I have no trouble using them. I am going to purchase another set for the other end of my pool.

      13 years and counting!
My husband and I bought these steps in spring of 2002. We pounded them together and decided that if we put in the sand as suggested it would be way to heavy to lift out of the pool, so my husband had the great idea to drill different sized holes in the plastic so when we dropped them in the pool they filled with water which kept them weighted down. Works perfect! I would definitely recommend these steps since back in 2002 when we bought them they were around $400.bucks and we still have them in ... read more and are using them today and now they're half that price. We certainly got our moneys worth!

      Best Ladder Ever
I've bought two different ladders for my above ground pool and this one is the best... Easy to assemble and very sturdy. I'd highly recommend this ladder if you're looking to replace the standard ladder that comes with an above ground pool.

      Strong and safe
The ladder came in record time and was easily assembled. I the roller cover over the steps will protect from unwanted swimmers. Great product.

      Sturdy easy to assemble
The ladder does not float like other ladders I had before this one. It sank once it was filled with water.

      Ladder
Nice ladder for the price. Didn't want a big bulky ladder. This one is perfect

      Pool Ladder
Had a vertical ladder before this one that was difficult to climb and wobbly, and this ladder is much more stable and easier to use when getting out of the pool. So I think this is a very nice ladder for the price.

      Above ground ladder
I bought this ladder to replace one that has lasted over 8 years. I feel Like I'll be lucky to get two out of this one. The plastic is much l Thinner and the base you stand on as you get out of pool is really flimsy. The price was decent but the quality feels lacking. We shall see.

Bought this ladder 2 weeks ago. Best ladder we have had in 17 years of owning a pool!

      Great Ladder
It was so easy to put together. I also bought the stabilizer bar and there is no movement when climbing up and down the ladder.

ladder not up to code in CT
ladder needs to have a self-locking gate so it's not up to code, at least in Watertown, CT. Other than that great product

Steps were easy to assemble. Instructions were well thought out. Connecting kit posed a bit more problem. Enclosed instructions were vague at best. We finally figured it out but it took up a whole Saturday(at least 8 hours). But we are generally pleased with the finished product.

      Love it !
We got a pool last year and it came with a ladder and we hated it. So I started looking around for steps so my elderly Mother-in-law could get into the pool with our family along with all my neices and nephews. We planned on getting just the steps and after 6 weekends of my brother in law not showing up to build it, we took the lumber back and I called and ordered another set of steps and the enclosure kit. Yes, is a little pricey but it is worth every penny. We put it together today and it did ... read more take about 4 hrs to assemble the whole unit.(2 people) You have to put together both set of steps and the the enclosure kit and the gate. It is alittle time consuming. The only issue we had was we built a stone patio outside the pool and the pool and the patio are not the same level which we did have to finangle it a bit to level it up. The unit does have some room for play but if there is more than and inch difference your side rails will not line up correctly. We eventually did get it to work and I am very happy with the product so far. It looks good and it is very easy to walk up into the pool and out. I am so glad I spent the extra money and bought the steps instead of the ladder. You won't be sorry.

Great for backyard w/o a fence
We bought our current pool last year and it only had a standard ladder. Our autistic daughter, who normally is a fish during the summer, refused to climb the ladder and if we lifted her into the pool, she became hysterical. This year we found the staircase system and enclosure. She loves it and the enclosure gives us peace of mind that she can not get in the pool without us opening it for her.

Very happy and so is Grandma
Very easy to put together. The instructions were a little confusing but I figured it out. It took about an hour to do by myself. I filled the sides with sand and the steps don’t float or move now that they are attached to the deck. I’m not really sure how I’m going to remove it from the pool for the winter because it is very heavy with water and sand. So if anyone has tips on that I’d appreciate it. My mother is 72 and can not climb a ladder so these steps gave her a safe way in and out of the ... read more pool and the kids have a spot they can sit and play until they are tall enough to stand in the pool. The only design flaw I don’t like, is I wish they weren’t so steep. This is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Great steps so far after 1 month.

What a pleasure to get in and out of our pool!
We got this last year, as our ladder was breaking. I'm a bigger than average guy, at about 350#. These stairs handle me no problem. I put them together myself in about 90 minutes. Easy peazy. Rather than fill with sand, I used 2' sections of PVC pipe, glued a cap on the bottom, drilled a few holes for water drainage. Then I filled it with river rock from the big box store. Drill a hole in the middle of the top cap and add a nylon rope for a handle and glue the top on. I attach it with ... read more heavy duty zip ties and it holds it firm to the bottom. Also, rinse the rock with a hose when you fill the pipe. Stops it from washing off into your pool!

Very solid. Great addition to our pool.
I'll start with my only negative. Have to do a little trimming of the rough edges of plastic left from the molding process. This makes everything fit a lot better. Positives: Great product. Very solid. Soooo much better than a ladder even the one we had with wide steps. Makes getting in and out so much better for everyone. From our 14 month old grandson to our 70 year old father. Even makes it easy in and out for our Springer Spaniel. He loves the water and this eases our concern over him ... read more putting holes in the liner getting out of the pool. Definitely worth the money!!

For above ground pools without a deck, a two-sided ladder like the Roll Guard A-frame safety ladder and the Evolution A-frame safety ladder are useful necessities. Take a 'step-up' in quality and size with two-sided pool step systems that feature an outside safety gate such as the Deluxe Entry System or the Combo Step Entry System that combines wide and sturdy stairs outside the pool, and a thick yet unobtrusive ladder inside the pool. Double sided pool A-frame ladders are weighted with sand or pebbles, to sit solidly on the pool floor and stay firmly in place.

For above ground pools with a deck, you can use the single pool ladder or the wider and safer pool steps, connected to your pool deck. For above ground pool ladders, look at the Heavy Duty In-Pool Ladder, or the 5-Step Stainless Steel pool ladders. Above ground pool steps are selected from 4 models, including the popular Staircase Steps and the elegant Curve Step System. Weighted pool steps connect to your pool deck and make a stable way for kids and adults to enter and exit the pool safely. Pool steps or stairs also make a great place to sit in the pool!
