    Cover Pumps

      Great Product
I installed this item on my cover and after a 24 hour rain, my cover was basically dry. The leaves haven't really begun to fall yet, but it appears that with the drain keeping the cover dry, the leaves will blow away and/or dry out and blow away. I've messed around with other cover drain solutions without much luck. I don't like the idea of an electric system that has to be plugged in all winter long, plus they tend to be too heavy. Other siphon type drains seem to become plugged up and really ... read more don't do the job. This is the only system that I have actually found to work. I also had the opportunity to deal with the company that makes this item, and they were very professional.

      Pool Drain kit
I've had it for a month now and been through a couple rains. Awesome is all i can say. No more pumps, or siphon hose what a great ideal. It's a little pricey though.

      Yes it works
I have been fighting leaves for several years so I thought I would give this a try, It only took a few minutes to install and get hooked up to my pool. It has been raining off and on for several days since I install the drain kit. It only took one sunny day and it was as dry as a bone.

      Great Pump!
This is a great little pump. I bought it to pump out low lying areas in my yard after hurricane Florence. I set it on a small piece of plywood to give it a flat surface to sit on. Hooked up a garden hose and plugged it in. It pumps out a pretty good stream for a small pump and had the water pumped out pretty quickly. Just keep an eye on it so it doesn't run dry. It does run hot but it seemed to do okay anyway.

      works really well!!
I just replaced the last Little Giant pump after 26 years! The pump was still working fine, but the base plate had cracked so it tilted a little. I've kept the pump itself to use as a backup for the new one, but doubt I'll need it.

      Excellent choice for needed job!
The "Wizard" performed quite a "duty," Depriving the Pool Cover of water with its "magic" quite quickly--

      Great pump
Great pump. Great service with In The Sim as always

      well made
Seems hard to prime, takes a long time to start pumping water. Did not shut off automatically, continued to run when water was gone. Gallons per hour is exaggerated.I was expecting a lot more for the price.

      Best cover pump made!
I have a automatic in ground pool cover that is permanent. Therefore you need a cover pump on all year. Without any doubt off all the different pumps I have tried this little thing is the best. The weight is perfect and the water gets down to 0. The one I am using now I have had for 4 years and no issues. Yes I leave it on all winter in the Northeast. Just wanted to offer some advice if your on the fence. Spend the money up front, throw this thing on your cover and worry about something else.

      Works exactly like advertised.
I had two different 350 GPH cover pumps now and this one is definitely better built. Product came quickly and ordering was easy.

Works well and automatic shut off is good too!!
I gave a 4 only because I’m using with a above ground pool cover and the only problem is a flat level spot is needed to work properly and if using any tyoe of weighted item that tends to cause the pump to flip on its side and could cause the pump to run continuously which then could burn up the pump as stated in instructions!! If there’s a way to make a weighted type platform that hooks on the side of pool that is level and flat I wouldn’t have to check on and remove pump from cover each ... read more time... that would be great!!! Here you go all inventors out there!!!!

      Great pump
This pump is great. We had a snowstorm that gave us 10 inches of snow. When it melted my pool cover was full of water. I put the pump in the water and in no time all the water was gone.

      So far, so good!
Just received this and it is doing it's job as promised it would. Attached a longer hose, works great. Would definitely recommend.

      Very good product
I bought two of these two winters ago for my above-ground pool cover and plan on using them again this winter. Not sure why people say they are having a tough time getting them started. As long as it is lower than the pool cover when I pump it I can get it started with a few pumps. It does go a little slow but since it doesn't use any electricity you get it started and walk away so it doesn't matter how long it takes. I bought two and of course it goes twice as fast with two. I do suggest ... read more getting a leaf net cover for above your regular cover. I put this pump in between the two and it works great. This way there is never leaves underneath it. I have left them outside in freezing and snowy weather for 2 winters and they still work perfectly. I also suggest if you use a pool pillow that you buy two so that you can have one on each side. This way you don't have to keep moving it around. Nice to see a good product that is not two expensive.

Easy to use with good results
I purchased the above ground cover drain recently, and it was easy to use and siphoned the excess water off of the cover in a relatively short amount of time. I placed the end of a pool cleaning pole across the top of it to keep it underwater as long as possible, and most of the water was removed. Plan on using again just before final winter freeze, and again in the spring prior to removing the cover.

      Wonderful
Decided to write a review after reading some negative ones. I have purchased 3 of these. I use for my pool, removing water from my hot tub, and other household jobs. Found out it is better not to store in the pool house next to harsh chemicals, but no problem, when the pump stops working, I just dip the hose in some rum and provide a quick suction....the way my dad started hoses in the old days. Great product.

      Works great
Love it. No more messy hoses all over the place. Just put the sump on the cover and watch it work!! You can tell it is working when you see the water spout out.

      Goodbye hose!
Shoots water the perfect distance, lands softly as to not harm my lawn!

good pumping rate but weak housing
I bought this pump this fall and already used for pumping water from the cover. The hose connector is inserted into the hole in the body which has rather thin wall thickness. After few insertions the body developed a crack. Pump was operational but I was afraid that it will not leave long and glued the hose connector into the hole with PVC glue. Will see how it will last.

      Money well spent
This is our second year of using this pump and it's still working like brand new. For the money, it's definitely a great little pump and keeps our cover clear of excess water.

      Durable
Second one I've bought first one was ten years old still running good

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Cover Pumps

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Why Use a Pool Cover Pump?

Cover Pumps are an essential pool closing accessory if you own an inground pool or an above ground pool. Cover Pumps sit atop your winter pool cover and pump water off of its surface after it reaches a certain level. This alleviates stress and weight off of your pool cover throughout the course of the winter.

Swimming pool cover pumps also add a measure of safety for winterizing an inground pool by eliminating the need to knock heavy snow off the cover yourself.  You simply wait for the snow to melt, and let the safety cover pump do the rest of the work.

Automatic cover pumps will turn themselves on and off to keep the cover mostly pumped off, automatically. Manual cover pumps will run whenever plugged in, and are thus used intermittently, and unplugged when not in use.

All winter pool cover pumps are fully submersible, and can also be used for lowering pool water level or other household dewatering applications. All pumps include 25 ft NEMA power cord, and use a garden hose discharge hose (not included).

TIP: To keep your pool Cover Pump from clogging with leaves and for easier placement and retrieval, place it on an upside down Frisbee™. A pool Leaf Rake Net is useful for scooping leaves from a solid cover, or remove them all at once with a Leaf Net Cover.
