    Cover Pumps

Second one I've bought first one was ten years old still running good

good pumping rate but weak housing
I bought this pump this fall and already used for pumping water from the cover. The hose connector is inserted into the hole in the body which has rather thin wall thickness. After few insertions the body developed a crack. Pump was operational but I was afraid that it will not leave long and glued the hose connector into the hole with PVC glue. Will see how it will last.

      Money well spent
This is our second year of using this pump and it's still working like brand new. For the money, it's definitely a great little pump and keeps our cover clear of excess water.

      Works Well
This pump appears to working as advertised even with the heavy pollen this spring in the South that makes the cover look like a sea of yellow. The only thing I wish it had was a better way to hook something up to the top of it to move it out to more of the center of the cover. The picture has a loop on the top, the actually there is a good handle, but it is a T and I had to get a pipe to try and place over it to try and move it out. Not essential but would be nice.

      Compact, easy to set up
The pump arrived really fast. Double packed and we had it hooked up and running in about 5 minutes.

      Goodbye hose!
Shoots water the perfect distance, lands softly as to not harm my lawn!

      Works great
Love it. No more messy hoses all over the place. Just put the sump on the cover and watch it work!! You can tell it is working when you see the water spout out.

      you never let me down
I bought all my winterizing products and new cover for winter and I am extremely happy I wouldn't buy from anyone else

      Pool cover auto pump
I love this pump, it pumps the cover off when it rains an shuts its self off. I never have to go out in the cold.

      Above-Ground Cover Drain
This drain was very easy to use and did what we wanted. Kept water off our pool cover the entire winter. Just had to go out and start it draining after every rain, but that is what we expected. For he price, definitely worth it. In years past we had problems with water standing and then the leaves that had fallen after the cover was put on weighted down the cover.

      works great
We bought his and it works great. You do not have to plug it in and it does a great job of taking the water off the pool cover

      Very good product
I bought two of these two winters ago for my above-ground pool cover and plan on using them again this winter. Not sure why people say they are having a tough time getting them started. As long as it is lower than the pool cover when I pump it I can get it started with a few pumps. It does go a little slow but since it doesn't use any electricity you get it started and walk away so it doesn't matter how long it takes. I bought two and of course it goes twice as fast with two. I do suggest ... read more getting a leaf net cover for above your regular cover. I put this pump in between the two and it works great. This way there is never leaves underneath it. I have left them outside in freezing and snowy weather for 2 winters and they still work perfectly. I also suggest if you use a pool pillow that you buy two so that you can have one on each side. This way you don't have to keep moving it around. Nice to see a good product that is not two expensive.

      Great pump
This is my second Little Giant pump. The first was purchased 20 years ago and I am still using it. I looked at other pumps, but decided to stay with a proven winner.

      Fully met my expectaions
This little pump must surely have itself confused with one that is much larger. This little pump worked wonders at emptying my pool, and did a quick job of it too. If you need a pump to empty YOUR pool, this is the one to purchase. Absolutely wonderful.

      works really well!!
I just replaced the last Little Giant pump after 26 years! The pump was still working fine, but the base plate had cracked so it tilted a little. I've kept the pump itself to use as a backup for the new one, but doubt I'll need it.

      Best cover pump made!
I have a automatic in ground pool cover that is permanent. Therefore you need a cover pump on all year. Without any doubt off all the different pumps I have tried this little thing is the best. The weight is perfect and the water gets down to 0. The one I am using now I have had for 4 years and no issues. Yes I leave it on all winter in the Northeast. Just wanted to offer some advice if your on the fence. Spend the money up front, throw this thing on your cover and worry about something else.

      Pump Reliability
I just bought one to replace one just like it. The original worked great for 3 years. It still was pumping good but the float switch quit working. You would have to go out and shake it to wake it up. Now that I have a replacement, I plan on taking it apart and see if I can't get it cleaned up and get it back to turning on and off automatically.

      Works great.
We have had a little giant for several years. I thought it was malfunctioning so I bought another one. Silly me, our original one is still working great so I now have a backup.

In The Swim Knowledge Pool: Cover Pumps

    In The Swim's Dr. Pool

Why Use a Pool Cover Pump?

Cover Pumps are an essential pool closing accessory if you own an inground pool or an above ground pool. Cover Pumps sit atop your winter pool cover and pump water off of its surface after it reaches a certain level. This alleviates stress and weight off of your pool cover throughout the course of the winter.

Swimming pool cover pumps also add a measure of safety for winterizing an inground pool by eliminating the need to knock heavy snow off the cover yourself.  You simply wait for the snow to melt, and let the safety cover pump do the rest of the work.

Automatic cover pumps will turn themselves on and off to keep the cover mostly pumped off, automatically. Manual cover pumps will run whenever plugged in, and are thus used intermittently, and unplugged when not in use.

All winter pool cover pumps are fully submersible, and can also be used for lowering pool water level or other household dewatering applications. All pumps include 25 ft NEMA power cord, and use a garden hose discharge hose (not included).

TIP: To keep your pool Cover Pump from clogging with leaves and for easier placement and retrieval, place it on an upside down Frisbeeâ„¢. A pool Leaf Rake Net is useful for scooping leaves from a solid cover, or remove them all at once with a Leaf Net Cover.
