    Above-Ground Filters

      Great Product
I bought this to replace my old one that finally quit working after several years. It works great and does exactly what it's supposed to do. It does come with the rubber seal that seals this valve unit to the filter tank, it does not say that in the description so now I have an extra one since I ordered one separately. It does not come with any installation or operating instructions, which I did not need. Just remember that the handle should only be turned clockwise and not back and forth. That ... read more will keep the unit from leaking out of the top or any ports on it by keeping the inner seals from failing.

      Easy to replace
Very easy to replace old one. Cheaper than buying the whole filter. Working great.

      undecided..
Replaced our sand last year after could not get water clear and after using zeo sand pool was clear all of last year. NOT so this year. I used the zeo filter cleaner as directed and water will not get clear. Last year when first replaced it was crystal clear, this year I can see the bottom but that is as good as it gets, I am looking thru cloudy water. Not too expensive but do not want to have to empty sand EVERY year. Just bought the bio-dex clarifier 500 and hope it works.....

      Backwash more than instructions say.
I filled my new Intex sand filter with about 80 lbs. of Zeosand. Backwashed, rinsed, let sit 5 minutes, backwashed, rinsed, let sit 5 minutes, backwashed rinse, let sit 5 minutes. I had read the reviews and wasn't about to start to filter till the water was clear while backwashing. I must have backwashed and rinsed for 2 hours. I had to keep adding water to pool. I lost count of how many times I backwashed. I thougt, "You've got to be kidding me!" I was too far into the process to give ... read more up. Finally, the water stayed clear. I started to filter, while holding my breath, waiting to see if the water entering pool was cloudy. It stayed clear. So far, the pool looks great. I am used to the Intex pleated filters. They don't even compare to this. I don't know if it is the sand filter or the Zeosand, but, this filter has cleared up my pool much better than the old Intex filter.

      Superb Clarity
I was upgrading components of my 21 year old 20 x 40 in ground pool. New bottom, liner and sand filter. I purchased ZeoSand for the new filter. I was amazed to see the product delivered the NEXT day! Unfortunately, after I had made the purchase, I read the reviews and started to have second thoughts because of some of the negative ones. After liner install and sand filter installation/plumbing, it came time to run the pump. Followed the instructions concerning doing a through backwash before ... read more returning filtered water back to pool. The water returning to the pool had a grayish coloration for about 5 seconds, then cleared up. I concluded that this was likely due to stagnant water in the piping from the previous season. The pool has been open for a month now. I am really impressed with the water clarity using the ZeoSand versus regular filter sand. I have only back washed once since start up and that was mostly out of habit, as the water pressure and flow was normal. I recommend this product. A good investment!

      Great deal..saved lots of money
My pump went on memorial day weekend. Pool companies are swamped and would charge over $500 to install. Got a 1hp replacement motor for $140. Pool stores charge over $300 for motor.I received the pump in 3 days time so I could install it the next weekend. Pump is very quiet and working great...Saves about $400....

      Works great.
The pump is quiet and works great. It was a little difficult to get the electrical wiring in and hooked up. The connections are so close to the side, there was no room to pull the wires through and get them connected. Thank goodness for YouTube, as we had to look up how to disassemble the old pump, but we got it done.

      A Maintenance Headache
I've had a "75" for several years now and it does keep the water in my 16 X 36 pool very clean. I usually have to change the earth once during the season, which seem reasonable. My only complaint entails the bumping mechanism. The whole thing is held on the shaft that attaches to the handle by two "C" clips. Every season at least one of the clips breaks and has to be replaced. The clips themselves are cheap, but replacement means washing all the earth from the filter, complete disassembly, ... read more putting it back together and adding new earth. I won't buy another Haywood filter unless they replace the bump mechanism with something more reliable.

      Greatest Filter Ever
This is the best filter I have ever used. Wish I had bought this when I replaced my sand filter years ago. It was easy to hook up and cleans the water in my 24,000 gal. pool in less than 1 day on season startup. In the Swim needs to carry the premeasured D.E. packets.

      No Issue with Clogging
To the person who complained about filter clogging...Either you're using the wrong algaecide or you're using too much coagulator at a time. The filter runs great if you follow what I say.

      Quality Product
The filter was easy to install and works great with my pump from my previous system. It is very durable and I have yet to have a single problem with it. The water clarity is the best its been since I've owned the pool.

      needed filter system fast
Needed filter system quickly as old system blew up. Used in the swim on-line and phone and ordered the Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter. Got immediate help from In the swim tech support as to spec's on sand and installation of filter. Got system in 1 day as promised and as usual. Great price + savings on shipping and taxes. Was easy to install and got it working immediately and it works fine. Had purchased 1HP Haywood pump earlier and it also is performing well

      Get rid of paper filters
I bought a Hayward pump and sand filter three seasons ago. My round pool originally had a paper filter. It was hard to clean, very hard to clean. If you are still using the paper filter type, you are wasting time and effort. To clean a sand filter, you simply turn a handle and turn on the pump. It backwashes easily. You don't have to take the top off the system (which got harder each year), cut your hands, wash the filter 15 minutes, or pay $60 for a new filter. Honestly, I wouldn't have a pool ... read more without a sand filter again. I could kick myself for the hard labor I put in for 8 years on the old, paper filter system.

      Great fit!
It's a great fit and value compared to price of new filter. Easily installed and works great.

      High quality and easy installation
Arrival was fast, installing was easy and pool was crystal clear within hours. Easy to read pressure gauge. This filter was a replacement for my 30 year old Hayward de filter

      Great Upgrade
I replaced a old DE filter with the new Hayward Pro-Grid. I love the new Perma Glass shell as opposed to my old stainless model. Much improved clamping system, and the new control valve makes backwashing a breeze.

      Hayward sand filter
After 25 years I finally replaced the original filter on my in ground pool. This was pretty much a plug and play replacement. The only thing bad I can say about it, is the drain plug placement at the back of the unit is not going to be easy to access for winterization.

      Works Great!
I got this about 2 years ago and it's been working great on my pool. I have noticed that it does clear up my pool a little faster in I first open it for the year. It's easy to use as well and I have had no issues with it.

      Easy to install!
We always love all of our Hayward products which includes this sand filter! Our water is super clear and we don't have to run this 24/7 to keep it that way!

      Easy install
They had already installed all necessary seals. Just had to plug into already existing plumbing.

      so quiet!
Easy to install and the motor is ten Times cooler than our old one. Was delivered when we were told and customer service was top notch.

More About Above Ground Pool Filters

Above ground pool filters are the unsung hero of summertime fun in the sun for anyone with an above ground pool. The above pool filter is basically a big stop sign that does not let particles such as pollen, dust, dirt tree bark get through and back in to your swimming pool.

In the Swim carries three different types of pool filters: cartridge filters, sand filters and diatomaceous earth (DE) filters. Cartridge filters tend to be the most popular with above ground pool owners. A heavy-duty, paper-like cartridge sits in the filter case and collects particles in the water. Once in a while you have to clean or replace the filter cartridge, which is rather easy to do.

Sand filters and DE filters do the same as cartridge filters, but in a different way. Sand filters use filter sand to capture dirt and particles, and occasionally you will have to backwash the unit to clear all the debris from the sand. DE filters use a powdered sedimentary rock media that grabs even the smallest (down to 2 microns) particles, highly effective and slightly more costly than other above ground pool filters.

If you have any questions regarding In the Swim's above ground pool filters or any of our pool supplies please contact our friendly team of experts via phone or even email. Almost all of In the Swim's above ground pool filters include fast shipping and processing.
